The project NostalgiGS was started in October 1994 by Andre Horstmann.
Andre is author of the most popular NDA word processor Hermes (formerly ShadowWrite), the telecommunication software ShadowDial, and - on the Mac side - the educational entertainmant product Sophie and the Logo interpreter LOGO.
Andre started this project for fun and to learn how to program his newly acquired Power Macintosh.
Shortly after Andre had written the emulator core of NostalgiGS, the project got lost somewhere in time and space due to the lack of time of his creator.
In April 1996, Henrik Gudat announced his support towards this project, which from thereon was called the Fast Eddie Project.
Henrik is the author of many software products including the award-winning The Gate, Eureka!Symbolix, MultiView, cross-platform office automation tools, voice mail & fax-back systems, and coauthor of SpaceFox.
When Henrik joined the project, the development of Fast Eddie made giant steps every day.
Within three months, Andre rewrote the whole power core, improved the video blitter and added ADB and real time clock support while Henrik wrote an alternative smartport controller, the CleverPort, and added sound support.
What then followed - around July '96 - was the testing phase.
Fortunately, another bright mind, Urs Hochstrasser, was so excited about Fast Eddie that he decided to write a full featured monitor.
